Chief Operating Officer, West Coast, Seattle-Filled

Our client is looking for a Chief Operating Officer, COO. This is a brand new position based on the growth goals of the company. Therefore, you’re stepping into a clean slate as well as have the support of the leadership team and Board. You will report to the CEO; you are her right hand as well as a key member of the Executive team. They are looking for someone that isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves with a servant leader mentality with the ability to lead and influence. You will run the day to day operations of the company. This includes designing and implementing business strategies, plans and procedures, setting comprehensive goals for performance and growth, establishing policies that promote company culture and vision as well as leading employees to encourage maximum performance and dedication. There are 80 people on your team. You will evaluate and assess the current state of operations and identify opportunities to increase their efficiencies. In addition, you will participate in expansion activities and business development. Their overall foundation is built on strong strategic and solutions practice. They have a shared dedication and vision to service oriented quality and superior work product. This has allowed them to work on some of the most technically challenging and sophisticated projects in the industry.

Fast forward a year, what will you be doing?

You have implemented and improved operational effectiveness and efficiencies that align with the business goals. You have identified opportunities to increase their efficiencies for their internal systems and organizational structure. You have developed a multi-year roadmap, metrics, and workflow to meet the needs of their growth goals. This includes higher margins and maintaining growth goals. You are a respected Executive in the company. You have made a difference, impacted the positive company culture. You are happy.

How will you get there?

30 days:

  • Meet the team and business line leaders

  • Get familiar with the company’s mission, vision, and values

  • Review current strategy plan

 

90 days:

  • Working with the CEO on internal processes, improvements, and realignment

  • Learning about the company history, key clients, and relationships

  • Starting to formulate new services and strategies to continue to help the company grow

6 months:

  • The new org structure is in place

  • Teams are accountable and working collaboratively across the organization to support the company and business needs

  • Working with the offices’ managers and service line leads to understand the back logs and current initiatives to outline the appropriate goals

 What you will need:

  • Successfully progressed throughout your career in Operations, Professional Services and/or Environmental Engineering industry

  • Proven accomplishment in helping businesses scale and grow while implementing best practices and supporting internal process improvements

  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, helping talent to develop their skills

  • Partnered with Executive leadership across all lines of business to help improve their business

  • Great visionary with the ability to identify and capitalize on markets, trends, and best practices

  • Exceptional written and verbal skills; strong proficiency in public speaking, presentation skills

  • Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s a plus
