Our client is looking for a Director of Marketing for their corporate headquarters in Bellingham, WA. You will lead the marketing team and its efforts to drive sales growth across all channels. You will lead and collaborate with all the marketing and branding efforts of the company, new customer acquisition, and analysis of all these efforts. You will manage the end-to-end marketing process and work cross-functionally to develop the marketing strategy to drive top-line growth for the company. You own the marketing budget. This includes online, print, and in-store campaigns to drive growth through segmentation as well as targeting existing and new customers. You will also prepare revenue growth projections and related budgets. Developing customer feedback cycles, surveys, and focus groups to better understand the customers’ needs and drive demand through related efforts will be a part of helping drive the company’s brand nationally. Understanding the customer’s entire journey, and the entire funnel will be critical to the success of your role. You will also lead and drive the company’s development of its CRM initiatives to help meet specific KPIs using customer insights to find strategic solutions to grow the business and the brand. There are 13 people on your team.

Fast forward a year, what will you be doing?

You have reviewed the current marketing structure and programs to create an updated marketing strategy. You have received buy-in from the team as well as other business leaders. You have started to implement that strategy. You have executed the full analysis and identification of the current customer base. You have reviewed the current CRM and implemented and/or improved upon it. You have created new marketing campaigns to existing customers as well as created new campaigns to reach new customers. Therefore, your customer base has grown by 20%. Currently, there are 1 million customer records. You have identified characteristics and trends to create these new campaigns. You are working with the internal data group to help assess, then drive these metrics forward.  You are an excellent communicator. You are collaborating across the entire organization. You are executing your marketing plan. You are organized. You are leading your projects, executing them to successful completion. How will you get there?

30 days:

  • Meet with the business line leaders as well as your team

  • Assess the current marketing initiatives from digital to print

  • Meet the interim marketing consultant to understand what is currently in place to help you move the marketing initiatives forward

  • Analyze the budget

  • Get to understand their systems including their CRM

60 days:

  • You will have a thorough understanding of the initiatives

  • Review and know your vendors

  • Start to implement your new strategy and focus

  • Optimize and/or improve current systems

90 days:

  • Your new marketing strategy is being implemented

  • You are collaborating with leadership on the look and feel of the company

  • You are bringing social media in-house which is currently outsourced

What you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent marketing work experience

  • 10+ years working with multi-channel marketing

  • Proven track record of growing revenues through a full suite of B2C marketing initiatives

  • Successfully created and implemented digital and print marketing campaigns

  • Effectively managed and mentored a comprehensive marketing team

  • Ability to use data analytics to create profitable marketing campaigns

  • Strong collaborator partnering across all levels of the business

  • Ability to influence all functions of the business

  • Great critical thinker with solid analytical skills
