Our client is looking for an SVP of Consulting to join its successful Kirkland, WA-based North American team of talented and experienced specialists. Our client North America fuels its high growth from partnering with some of the best-known global brands. They deliver high quality custom products and platforms with big business impact by joining multi-disciplinary teams of consultants across its time-tested global delivery operations. The SVP of Consulting opportunity is a newly created and critical role for our client with the primary responsibility of unifying and operating a multinational consulting organization to deliver at scale on client commitments in North America. You will bring together all of our client’s consulting teams to deliver “seamlessly” to customers involving multiple capabilities and disciplines located in the US and Europe. This role is at the crux of a highly matrixed organization, not just responsible for overall delivery for our client in the U.S., but also for assembling our client’s U.S. delivery teams and setting them up for success, often utilizing resources from multiple geographies in the EU. Reporting directly to this role are all U.S. Delivery and Competency leaders with a total team today of ~180 highly skilled experts in Engineering, Product Development, Program Management, Customer Experience, and Lifecycle Services. You must truly understand all the components of what it takes to deliver their solutions and have the ability to unify and inspire the matrixed organization underneath this role. You will lead this organization with a huge impact on your team. Your successful onboarding of business consultants, engineers, solutions architects, project, and product managers results in their becoming integral parts of their project teams. You will participate in the selection of new global delivery centers across the world, most notably an expansion in Latin America. Being an ambassador of theirs, you will promote the brand and enhance the culture of respect and inclusion, both internally and externally. You will be a member of the global delivery team representing North American customers and consultants.

You have created and are operating from a scalable blueprint without sacrificing quality, velocity, craft, or culture. You have built a high performing consulting organization meeting and exceeding financial metrics of operational success including delivery margins, EBIT, and utilization. Leveraging your skills in change management, you have successfully organized the team into efficient, multi-competency delivery units tailored to tackle complex customer challenges while maintaining high employee satisfaction and low turnover.

You have brought together all their competencies and are successfully quarterbacking your teams’ delivery to customers with the highest level of speed, quality, and predictability. Our client is increasingly saying yes to the next level of strategic business opportunities because your team follows through on commitments to new and existing customers, all the while embracing their global delivery capabilities. Due to your leadership and “people-first” management, you have painted the vision of how your consultants can professionally grow and thrive whether they live in the U.S. or working on U.S. projects from other parts of the world.  You are building leaders around you. Your organization is not a bottleneck because you have built up your brand equity to attract top talent as the business continues its hyper-growth.  It can truly scale without depending solely on one person. Your blueprint includes how you can continue to enhance and modernize their services/solutions and delivery execution, keeping them at the forefront of their competitors. Anticipating growth through acquisitions, you have the plan to successfully integrate new talent, customers, and competencies. You have moved the needle forward regarding the culture, work from anywhere mindset, and in sophistication of their global distributed delivery operations. You are a trusted advisor to customers, employees, and your peers globally. You are successful and happy.   

How will you get there?

30 days:

  • Onboarding with the team; engage with directs and meet European counterparts

  • Learn about their competencies.

  • Learn how they operates delivery and processes (e.g., resource management and talent acquisition, etc.).

  • Tackle a pressing tactical issue to showcase your instant value to the team.

90 days:

  • Understand all global competencies and how they integrate into your North American strategy.

  • Work to develop competency roadmaps in North America to set the course for talent acquisition and development.

  • Get to know their customers and the status of programs and projects; participate in business reviews and account strategy planning.

  • Identify gaps to drive efficiency across the portfolio and evolve our delivery processes to scale to new offerings and go-to market strategies.

  • Get your hands dirty; take inventory of services/solutions and determine their maturity

  • Start global unification and blueprint for scalable success.

6 months:

  • Identify adjacent business opportunities/service offerings that help scale their footprint across key accounts.

  • Attend Delivery Leadership Team meeting in August 2022.

  • Create a career roadmap for consultants; identify strengths and gaps; focus on mentorship and strong career development paths that engage our consultants.

  • Continue solid interaction and relationship building to underpin the change management activities required to further scale your team.

  • Interaction with internal team(s) across their geographies is seamless.

What you will need

  • ⮚     Minimum of 15 years of technical delivery consulting experience having an active leadership role during rapid growth.

  • ⮚     Proven track record of building software development and engineering teams in global services or distributed delivery environments. Experience working with a distributed delivery model involving Eastern European consultants would be ideal.

  • ⮚     Expertise in product and project management processes.

  • ⮚     Bachelor’s degree or greater in engineering (or similar technical educational background or experience) is required.

  • ⮚     Highly developed customer relations and service skills; deep understanding and ability to quickly understand the challenges facing customers and directing end-to-end solutioning involving multiple capabilities.

  • ⮚     Objective and practical communication skills; builds trusted relationships quickly and effectively; works in a collaborative manner with people at all levels.
